About

Dr. Gloria I. Pérez is the Lab Manager for the Schmidt lab, where we seek to understand how human cells preserve their genome integrity.

Dr. Pérez received her M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Reproductive Physiology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Afterward, she went to Harvard University for her postdoctoral training as a Junior Fellow at the Vincent Center for Reproductive Biology. Previously, she held an Associate Professor position at Michigan State University, where she studied the mechanisms underlying menopause in women. Her research focused on reversing the aging phenotype of somatic cells, germ cells, and stem cell lines by cellular reprogramming and/or mitochondrial replacement to by-pass senescence.
