Ami Lane-Elliot joined Dr. Knickmeyer’s lab in November 2022 as a research coordinator. She has a background in pediatric nutrition which began in 2015 when she received a BS in Dietetics from Michigan State University. She completed her dietetic internship at Michigan Medicine, specializing in pediatric clinical dietetics at Mott Children’s Hospital. From there, she began doing contract work in the area of Functional Nutrition, with a focus on gastrointestinal disorders and autoimmune diseases. She has always had a passion for research, working as a research assistant during undergrad, then participating in data collection for numerous studies at Mott Children’s Hospital. As a research coordinator, her efforts are primarily focused on an upcoming study, “Maternal Stress, Exposure to Environmental Chemicals, and Cognitive Development: Potential Roles for Inflammation and the Developing Gut Microbiome,” as well as Dr. Knickmeyer’s ongoing ORIGINS project. In addition, she will be assisting members of the lab with other studies as needed.
