About

Currently Dr. Manchanda, Ph.D. is working as a Lab manager in Dr. Bryan Smith and Dr. Nureddin Ashammakhi’s labs. Prior to this, she was a faculty at KR Mangalam University and Galgotias University, India from 2012 to 2020. Immediately prior to that, she worked as a Research Assistant Professor at the Department of Biomedical Engineering, Florida International University (FIU, Miami, FL, 2011-2012). Dr. Manchanda’s area of research is in bio-nanotechnology with a strong emphasis on the development and characterization of novel polymeric nanoparticles for on image guided therapy, primarily for cancer. She joined Michigan State University (MSU) in 2020 and she has been working on various projects related to cancer applications. Her projects include medicinal chemistry, cancer therapeutics and diagnostics, and anticancer drug releasing nano- and microparticle systems. She joined FIU as the Wallace H Coulter Foundation Biomedical Engineering (BME) Young Inventor Award recipient for postdoctoral position in 2007. In 2011, she was promoted to Research Assistant Professor. During this time, she established a successful research program in nanotechnology for drug delivery applications and received an NIH R15 grant. Her previous training at FIU was primarily focused on chemistry and synthesis of polymeric nano- and microparticles. Her research was focused on preparation of novel nano- and microparticles which can simultaneously carry imaging/induce hyperthermia and chemotherapeutic agents to the target site. During her stay at Université de Paris-Sud, France, her research project was focused on the development of a blood substitute, based on nanoparticles and hemoglobin. Currently, she continues her work on the preparation of functional hydrogels that can be used in various biomedical applications such as oxygen-release and three-dimensional 3D bioprinting
