Sangbum Park, PhD Postdoctoral Fellow Department of Genetics Yale School of Medicine

Sangbum Park earned his PhD with Kyung-Sun Kang at the Seoul National University, South Korea. Dr. Park is currently a postdoctoral fellow in Valentina Greco’s lab at the Yale University. Dr. Park focuses on understanding the principles of regeneration in the wound context that rebuild tissue de novo after injury. As a postdoctoral fellow, Dr. Park established a live cell imaging approach to study tissue repair in vivo and applied this new technology to determine how distinct cells of different fates coordinate their behaviors to promote re-epithelialization after injury. His ongoing research is investigating how crosstalk between epithelial cells and co-existing niche components, such as tissue-resident immune cells, contribute to effective homeostasis and wound repair. Dr. Park is also the recipient of the 2014 James Hudson Brown – Alexander Brown Coxe Postdoctoral Fellowship, 2014 State of Connecticut Regenerative Medicine Research Fund (RMRF) seed grant award and 2017 New York Stem Cell Foundation (NYSCF) – Druckenmiller Fellowship. Dr. Park has been invited to speak in several international conferences including Gordon Research Conferences (GRC), International Investigative Dermatology (IID), International Society for Stem Cell Research (ISSCR) and a keynote talk at International Workshop on Langerhans Cells.
