About
Tomas Janovic is a postdoctoral researcher in the Schmidt lab studying the molecular mechanism of telomere maintenance in cancer cells by using an advanced genome editing and microscopy techniques. Tom received his master’s degree in Biomedical engineering from Brno University of Technology, Czech Republic, where he focused on medical image processing. Then, he completed his Ph.D. in Bio-omics at CEITEC, Masaryk University, Brno, Czech Republic with Dr. Ctirad Hofr where he studied the assembly of protein complex protecting telomeres using in vitro biochemical and single-molecule approaches. Apart from science, Tom enjoys spending time in nature, especially when combined with sport – trail running, hiking, biking or rock-climbing.
